Ga Mantse praises MIIF over record financial performance

By Heavens Ashong

The Ga Mantse- King of the Ga State- King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has commended the Board, management and staff of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) over its record financial performance in what the King believes positions the Fund to effectively fulfil its mandate of generating wealth for both present and future generations.

The Ga Mantse said the Fund’s recent financial results demonstrated strong leadership, strategic direction and commitment to transforming the fortunes of an institution established to mobilise Ghana’s mineral royalties and invest the proceeds for the long-term benefit of the country.

“I pray for strength, wisdom, and good health for you, the Board, Management, and staff as the Fund continues its journey to even greater heights,” he said.

He made the remarks when the leadership, management and staff of MIIF today paid a courtesy visit on him in Accra ahead of the celebration of this year’s Homowo festival.

The delegation was led by Board Chairman, Mr. Richard Kwame Asante, the Fund’s CEO, Justina Nelson and other Board members as well as its Executive Management Committee and staff.

The Ga Mantse’s commendation comes on the back of MIIF’s audited financial results, which recorded a profit of GH₵1.1 billion for the 2025 financial year, despite a significant reduction in the allocation of mineral royalties to the Fund from 77.6 per cent to two per cent.

The Fund has also recorded GH₵5.39 billion in mineral royalty receipts in the first half of 2026, representing approximately 98 per cent of the GH₵5.43 billion collected during the entire 2025 financial year.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II described the results as impressive, commending the current Board and Management for demonstrating leadership in improving the performance and financial position of MIIF.

He particularly praised the Board for providing strategic direction and unwavering support to ensure that the Fund operates at the high standards expected of a national institution of its stature.

According to him, such achievements deserved to be celebrated and recognised, while encouraging Mrs. Nelson and her team to sustain the momentum and continue delivering for the benefit of Ghana.

On her part, the CEO of MIIF, Mrs. Justina Nelson, said the courtesy visit was significant given the importance of Homowo to the Ga people and the festival’s broader cultural relevance to Ghana.

She said it was therefore appropriate for MIIF to join the chiefs and people of the Ga State in celebrating an important cultural heritage that continues to unite generations given that some royalties from salt, sand and quarries are generated on Ga land.

Mrs. Nelson described Homowo as a powerful symbol of resilience, gratitude and unity, while commending the Ga Mantse for his leadership and efforts to advance education, healthcare, youth development, investment promotions and national cohesion.

She reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to working closely with traditional authorities to ensure Ghana’s mineral wealth creates lasting value for present and future generations.

Mrs. Nelson used the occasion to congratulate the Ga Mantse on his recent 55th birthday and conveyed the Fund’s goodwill to the King and the entire Ga State as preparations for the annual Homowo Festival gather momentum.
